Release Notes

This release has new functionality that makes crashme potent in 64-bit processor architectures. This potency has been generally absent for several years, ever since
Data Execution Prevention (DEP) became the default setting in most operating systems.

After installation the TEST1.BAT short-cut will produce CRASHME-TEST1-MT.LOG containing the following process fatal exit exceptions after a 30-second run:
  • EXCEPTION_SINGLE_STEP
  • EXCEPTION_FLT_OVERFLOW
  • EXCEPTION_DATATYPE_MISALIGNMENT
  • EXCEPTION_PRIV_INSTRUCTION
  • EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION
  • EXCEPTION_ILLEGAL_INSTRUCTION

Prior to this release there would be no fatal exit exceptions, and an individual crashme.exe sub-process would internally experience and handle only harmless EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION caused by DEP.

If you set up a BAT file to run crashme.exe for several hours or days who knows what your computer may encounter, perhaps undocumented instructions that only the NSA can use?

The installer includes both binaries and source code. If you don't want to use the installer then you download the indicated change set and compile with VS Express 2013 for Desktop.
